While our Minor team had their county league fixture postponed on Saturday, the Senior team, under their new management, had their first outing of the year as they faced Sneem/Derrynane in the South Kerry League.

South Kerry League.Sneem/Derrynane0-06 Skellig Rangers2-06.Rangers got off to a perfect start with a goal from Bernard Walsh. Adrian Breen(F) opened Sneem/Derrynanes account but 2 Alan Devane points and a goal from Brian Hickey had rangers well in command. Rangers added 3 further points through Brian Hickey Sean Courtney and Bernard Casey(F) but Sneem/Derrynane finished the half the stronger with points from Morgan O Donoghue and Adrian Breen(F). Indeed they could have had a goal but Cian Boland shot narrowly wide.

Half-time score Sneem/Derrynane0-03 Skellig Rangers2-05.

Rangers had played very well in the first half. The defence was solid and the quick movement of the forwards was causing Sneem/Derrynanes defence no end of problems. Ian Galvin opened Sneem/Derrynane's account in the second half. Morgan O Donoghue and Joe Corridon added to it to reduce the margin to 5 before they were handed a lifeline when they won a penalty. Fortunatly for Rangers Joe Corridon struck the post and despite Brian Hickey missing a penalty for rangers, Aidan O Sullivan pointed to complete the victory. A good start to the year and the team played well as a unit.
