Replay of Intermediate Shield Final played in Milltown on Saturday last. Currow3-10 Skellig Rangers
3-11. Both sides were understrength but they still produced a thriller. Currow started
in a whirlwind fashion and went 1-03 to 0-00 ahead. Micheal O Sullivan(Ardcost) opened rangers account before Ciaran Keating goaled for Rangers.Alan Devane pointed for rangers but Currow hit 3 points in a row to go fourahead.A great ball by Wayne O Sullivan found Bernard Walsh and he finished emphatically to the net.It was O Sullivan again who drew rangers level with a great point. Both sides then exchanged
points with Dec Keating hitting a massive point for rangers.Currow hit 1-1 before half-time to leave the score at the break 2-08 to 2-04. Ciaran Keating and Dec Keating(F) had points for rangers at the start of the 2nd half but they were caught on the counter-attack soon after and Currow had another goal. However Gerard O Sullivan quickly responded for rangers with a goal of his own.Currow pointed again but Rangers hit a purple patch hitting 4 in a row to go in front for the first time through Wayne O Sullivan(2) Alan Devane and Dec Keating(F).Currow drew level but with the last kick of the game. Chris O Driscoll kicked the winning point.Despite missing 9 of the the team that started against Bally/Foilmore this was a battling performance from rangers and it was great to see the fringe players who have been training all year such a great performance.Whille it may not be the most prestigous competition it was nice to end the year with
silverware.
