By Michael O’Sullivan – PRO Skellig Rangers GAA Skellig Rangers G.A.A Club AGM was held in the Community Centre on Friday the 13th December last. With a healthy number of members present, the meeting was held in an open constructive manner and lasted approximately 2 hours with Chairman Gerard O' Sullivan, Secretary Aideen Martin and Treasurer Gloria O' Driscoll fronting the proceedings on the evening. With each member present receiving the Agenda and the Treasurer's Report, the meeting began with the minutes of last year's AGM being read out by Aideen Martin. The secretary then read out her report briefing all those present on club activity from the year gone by. The meeting moved swiftly along to the financial report by the Treasurer Gloria O' Driscoll. The financial report highlighted the expenses and income throughout the year and showed that running a club in South Kerry incurs a lot of expenses. Some members discussed different ways to reduce expenses for 2014 and as these were relayed to the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer, they would be considered for 2014. Total income for the year was €34971.45 while expenses for the year totaled €33,924.92. With the club Lotto being a steady source of income throughout the year, the club remains in a healthy financial position for the upcoming year The next part of the meeting entailed the Chairman's Address and outgoing Chairman Gerard O' Sullivan addressed the members by welcoming them to the meeting and giving his address to those present. He concluded by thanking all the members for their support, the secretary Aideen Martin and treasurer Gloria O' Driscoll for her work, commitment and dedication and wished the newly appointed chairman Gerard O' Shea the very best of luck for the upcoming year. A report on the recent Coiste na nÓg AGM was then presented to the meeting. Membership for 2014 was discussed in the meeting and the current rates of membership were passed again for the coming year. GYM rates for 2014 will be reviewed in early 2014. The Chairman touched on the high income generated by the gym during 2013, and based it down to a qualified fitness instructor being present throughout the year. There was one motion for the South Kerry Board and the motion which was to establish a review committee to review Junior Football in South Kerry.
