County Senior Football League. Skellig Rangers 0-10 St Pats Blennerville 0-13. Rangers had lost there first 2 games so a win here was vital. Kieran Hurley(F) opened the scoring but Ciaran Keating (F) equalised for Rangers. Luke Mulligan put St. Pats back in front but Ciaran Keating (F) got Rangers back on level terms. Kieran Hurley (F) and Alan Devane exchanged points before Kieran Hurley(F) and Luke Mulligan gave St Pats a two point advantage. Ciaran Keating floated in a free kick, the ball broke to Daniel O 'Sullivan and he put it over the bar. Rangers were seeing a lot of the ball, however it was St.Pats who were more clinical and ended the half 4 points in front after 3 pointed frees from Kieran Hurley. At the start of the second half Ciaran Keating and Kieren Hurley exchanged pointed frees. It was after this that Rangers found thier shooting boots and kicked three points in a row through Brian Hickey, Ciaran Keating (F) and Bernard Casey. Rangers were in the ascendency and an equaliser looked likely, however try as they may Rangers could not find the equalizer. Kieran Hurley was displaying unairing accuracy and he hit 2 pointed frees to give St.Pats a tree point cushion heading into the final minutes. Ciaran Keaing hit 2 points to reduce the margin to 1 but Brendan Poff responded in kind to restore St.Pats 3 point cushion. Rangers had a strong penalty appeal when Mike Keating was appeared to be upended in the dying moments. However it wasn't given and St Pats left Pairc Chill Imeallach with the spoils. Rangers could easily have won this game but stupid mistakes at both ends of the field cost them dear. Skellig Rangers next outing in the County League is at home to St. Mary's on the weekend of the 14th/15th of May.
