Match report Skellig Rangers V Listry

posted 29 Jun 2014, 06:58 by Kissee Wardlaw
Skellig Rangers collected two valuable points against Listry last Saturday evening after an improved second half display seen them win by a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-6. The first half was a close contest with Listry playing against a slight breeze the first to score. Rangers were finding it difficult to gain control around the middle but had good scores from the influential Ciaran Keating and  a long range Stephen O' Sullivan effort. The half ended 0-4 to 0-3, a very low scoring half that seen both defences remain tight and tenacious. In the second half, Rangers were playing against a slight breeze but improved their workrate and had good scores from Ciaran Keating, Diarmaid Keating and Alan Devane. Despite strong, attacking running from Listry's wing backs such as John Foley, they were unable to match Rangers on the scoreboard and the game ended on a two point win for Skellig Rangers. A good  victory considering the absences of Brian Hickey, Bernard Walsh, Brendan O' Sullivan and Brian O' Sullivan to injury and work commitments which moves us to 7th place in the table, on 6 points.
Team: Padraig O' Sullivan, Brian Murphy, Shamus O' Sullivan, Stephen O' Sullivan, Gerard O' Sullivan, Stephen O' Sullivan, Ronan O' Shea, Aidan O' Sullivan, Alan Devane, Anthony O' Driscoll, Bernard Casey, Micheál O' Sullivan, Diarmaid Keating, Martin O' Sullivan, Ciaran Keating. Subs used: Mike Keating for Alan Devane and Sean Courtney for Diarmaid Keating.
Our next game is a tough away fixture to Legion in a month's time in Round 8 of the County League.

Best of luck to the Kerry senior football team who play Cork in the Munster Final this Sunday in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork
