In a repeat of last year's County Junior Football League Final, Skellig Rangers traveled to Glenbeigh last Friday June 10th to face Glenbeigh/Glencar in the final round of this campaign.

With the absence of a hand full players, the Rangers went into this game feeling a little apprehensive having to contest a strong Glenebeigh/Glencar outfit. The first half was very much evenly matched with both teams notching up a high scoreline of points in the 30 minutes. Gradually, the Rangers settled in their play and went in at half time with a three point lead.

As the second half commenced, the Rangers put pressure on the homeside scoring 5 unanswered points. At this stage the Rangers seemed the stronger outfit but Glenbeigh failed to give up. The homeside answered back with a number of points and a goal in the last ten minutes of the game. The Rangers lead began to narrow until a Martin O'Sullivan goal sealed the victory for the Rangers leaving them travel home with a four point win. Overall, a good team performance. The team and management wish to thank Glenbeigh/Glencar for the refreshments provided to them after the game.

The Rangers currently sit comfortably in second place on the league table and hopes of a semi final are high. A back game versus Kenmare is due to be played in the next fortnight. See local notes and posters for confirmation of this fixture.
